The race venue was the Grouse Inn, Harehills Lane, Oldfield, Near Keighley, West Yorkshire. Both the senior race and the junior race were on the same courses as last year. This year runners were able to park on the field at the back of the Grouse Inn , and despite a very heavy downpour prior to the start of the race the conditions during the race were very good.
The winner of the senior race was Matt Crane of Dark peak, in a time of 32.15 which is new course record. The previous record of 32.18 was set by Ian Holmes of Bingley Harriers in 2005. The first lady was Grace Crane , in a time of 39.36. Matt and Grace Crane were just married very recently and this is the first event they had entered since their marriage, and what a success they achieved !!!
The first male veteran ,also in second place, was B. Stevenson of Pudsey and Bramley in a time of 34.33.
The first lady veteran was Carol Fryer of Halifax Harriers in a time of 45.09.
In the junior races the turn out was very disappointing with only five runners in three races. Come on juniors you can do much better than this, lets achieve a bumper turn out next year !
Under 12 Race
The first boy was J Gummett in time of 12.27. The first girl was H. Crossfield of Halifax Harriers in a time of 14.23
Under 14 Race
There were no boy runners in this race. The first girl was A. Mason of Wakefield Harriers in a time of 15.00
Under 16 Race
The first boy was J. Crossfield in a time of 17.11. There were no girl runners in this race.
Even though overall numbers were down this year we still managed to raise £138 for local charities.
A number of runners provided good positive feed back on the event and it very helpful to receive such information. Thanks to all those concerned. A big thanks goes out to all the runners, the marshals, all the other helpers and the grouse for the venue.
