26/01/12 Yorkshire Cross Country Championships 2012
A small, but very select group of young Harriers took part in the Yorkshire Championships at Wakefield on Saturday 7 January, and it was a pleasure to see them staying to watch the Senior races which featured so much to inspire them.
In the first two races the Merrick twins, Matthew and Victoria, both of whom are in their first year in this age-group, produced very promising results, with Matthew in 15th and Victoria in 18th.
Also in his first year, in the U15s, Emile Cairess ran with great determination and intelligence and was rewarded with an excellent 6th place and selection for the Yorkshire team. Daniel Smithurst, in his first championship race, stuck to the task very well, finishing in 48th place.
Jenna Killock was once again our only representative in the U17 Women’s race, and in a high-quality race her 27th position was a fine effort.

16/01/12 YORKSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS - VICTORIOUS LADIES
Thanks to Ali Raw, who drove down from the North East to complete the team, our ladies started the Championship XC season with an emphatic win at the Yorkshires on 7th January at Thornes Park. Emma Clayton (2nd in 21.22) and Victoria Wilkinson (3rd in 21.30) won individual medals and were ably supported by Jo Buckley (9th in 21.53) and Ali (23rd in 23.04). Emma, Victoria and Jo gained inter-counties selection too! Alana Gill, Carly Robertson & Sue Cariss also ran so the blue & white hoops were well represented.
