Gentlemen.
The committee
of the Bingley Harriers have great pleasure in presenting their
first annual report. The formation of the club was chiefly due to
our worthy treasurer Mr.H Bradley. At his instigation a meeting
of those interested in this sport was called in the month of March
and was held at the Old Queens Head Inn. The invitations to that
meeting were heartily responded to and by a unanimous vote it was
decided to form a club for Bingley. At this meeting rules were made
and officers elected and other such business as was required. During
the year nineteen runs have been held but the attendances at some
of them was not so large as might have been expected. The membership
of the club was larger than was at first expected - eighteen having
joined the club as running members and four as honorary members.
There should have been four inter-club runs (two with Keighley and
two with Shipley) held but owing to the weather and other circumstances
only two came off (namely those with Keighley). The season was finished
up with a run at which both Shipley and Keighley were invited to
attend and it turned out a very enjoyable affair. It is to be hoped
that the membership of the club will increase during the forth-coming
year and that all the old members will turn up and bring with them
new recruits and thus help the club on. As will be seen from the
treasurers report the club finishes the season with a small sum
in hand.
