Tweeking of route now complete and we are ready to roll on Saturday morning. Because there is apparently a race from the BBSC at 9.30 am on Saturday, I will accommodate anyone who wishes to run the race and participate in the navigation course. So we will meet as arranged to commence our 'classroom' session at 8.30 in the BBB's suite which is on the left as you enter the clubhouse. At 9.30 am those who wish will go and run their race, the remainder may have further navigation training if they wish whilst the race takes place.

At approx 10am after the race, we will relocate ouselves to near Fly Flats reservoir on the minor road which runs from Oxenhope to Halifax. NGR 032323 where there is adequate parking at the roadside. The best way to get there is via Cottingley (because of Ireland Bridge closure) Sandy Lane, Ling Bob, Cullingworth, Flappit, Brow Top Haworth, Oxenhope, then up the hill past the church and just after the sharp right hand bend take the minor road on the left up the hill and follow this for approx 2 miles to the start. It would be advantageous to share transport from the BBSC where possible.

I have reduced the length of the route to approx 5 miles, which will take up to two hours under instruction/discussion. As I said earlier on this thread, the area is high up and very exposed to the weather. Even today when it was very mild and dry, it felt quite cold and several layers were needed. Fortunately though the snow has gone and you can run in most places. Bring full body cover ie. waterproof jacket and pants.

You will also need a South Pennines 1:25000 map for the classroom. I will prepare a small laminated map of the area to use on the hill so that you don't have to cart a full sized map along, and don't forget your compass and writing material if you wish to make notes in the classroom.

The following members have intimated their intention to participate; Mark Westman, Steve and Faye Firth, Ruth Whitehead, Kerry Gilcrest, Allison Barritt and friend, Andy Jebb, James Senior, Simon Wright, Adrian Netherwood. Would those people please confirm whether they still attending. Otherwise if you have any queries let me know & I'll see you Saturday.

I'm still in, Peatbog. The race is actually from Dowley Gap near the Fishermans and runners have to register at 9-9.15-ish - don't know if that affects your plans?

Hi Peatbog, we could probably do 8.30 till 9 am then go off, register and race and presumably return 10.15 approx. to finish any classroom instruction or just sort out car sharing etc. I am flattered at being called Mark Walbank as he was a faster road runner and a few years younger! See you on Saturday.
