Many Thanks to everyone who turned up last night. A really good turn out of runners and marshalls. Great to see.
28 seniors 16 Juniors and 14 marshalls.
All in all an enjoyable evening.
A big apology to Robin Lawrence for making him miss his allotted start time. He should have been of at 14.15 not 16.15 but I asked him to sweep the junior race, then because of the rain we started the seniors about 5 mins before the Juniors finished.
Thanks Robin, at least you ensured they all got back safely.
Thanks also to
Tony Kingham and Graham Smith for doing junior entries, Kerry and Barbara for doing senior entries and recording finishers, and Kerry for doing results, Tony Pickles and John Capenhurst for doing time keeping, John Smithirst and Ian Goodyear for their Buffalo Bill impressions rounding up the cows and tape collecting, Bob Dover and Rick Gilchrist, Martin Peace and Mark Westman for manning the road crossings, Dave Weatherhead for marshalling 2 diferent points, tracking down the stray senior runner and for gathering flags, Dave Stephenson, Pete Shoard, John Merrick, Ian Stewert and Danny Ward for marshalling and Ben Nicoll, Matthew Merrick and Alex Stewert and little H for collecting flags and Max Nicoll for handing out the Haribo's and for Andy Nicoll for doing Junior results and presentation. Sorry if I missed anyone but if I did you know who you are and I appreciate your contribution. Events like this can not go ahead without help. - Thank you all very much.
Senior race report:
I was aiming to get everyone round in 35.30 seconds and was pleased to see we were not that far away apart from a few guests and strays. Very Well Done to Andy Peace who had a storming run from the back to finish 4th in a time of 20:03 - A fantastic time particularly in the mud.
Sheila Whitham fought hard up the last hill to secure a hard earned 3rd place. Ruth Whitehead and a fantastic first run back from injury (She was going to be off at 08:30 not 07:30 until I heard about the injury) to be overall second and 1st club member home ( Winner of the Bob Smith trophy). First back was a guest runner Phil Thackeray who took advantage of a very generous handicap and despite the mud showed the rest a clean pair of heels to win comfortably.....
Such a good turn out meant my catering calculations of 40 people was slightly short but I hope you all got at least something to eat and enjoyed the evening.
